If there is one thing I hope that everyone walks away with this year, whether you are a graduating senior or an excited middle schooler, it’s the fact that we matter. We know that we are powerful and will continue to influence, yet we must never forget in this process that kindness matters. We will continue to work hard to counteract the fear and division in the world, that we see to it by being compassionate, understanding, and loving of each other. We will support each other and aspire to the highest of heights.

Fall is personally my favorite season! I thoroughly enjoy the blushing autumn colors, the warm invitation of thick hoodies and sweatpants, the sweetness of sweet potato pies, and the crisp of the leaves crunching beneath your feet on the sidewalk. However, as the leaves begin to fall, it is imperative that we stay connected more than ever this season.

As we finish our first full month of school, I hope that everyone is well into the swing of our new schedule, classes, and assignments. As I’m personally adjusting to senior year, I want to assure you that the feelings of both stress and excitement during this time period still remain unchanged from what I remember of my first few years at OHS compared to going into my fifth.

Despite the academic rigor, OHS is truly a wonderful place to be. Although the Canvas to-do list may never seem to end, I am excited to see our vibrant school community grow even stronger than last year and our new teachers so enthusiastic during the start of classes. Regardless of whether you are a first-timer or a grizzled veteran, we can also use the new school year to reflect on personal growth.
