Letter from the Editor

Dear Reader,

It might be hard to believe, but we are more than halfway through the school year! Regardless of what grade you’re in, we are all passing incredible milestones at this time of year, and I hope you are having a great start to your 2023. To my fellow seniors, congratulations on finishing your college applications!

However, with everything that’s going on, January may feel like an uncertain time when things seem to be in limbo. Perhaps it’s that eerie feeling at the start of a new year, waiting for college decisions, or suddenly jumping back into school after the holidays. Whatever it is, I hope you have something to look forward to this semester. Personally, even though it may now seem so far away, I’ve been thinking about graduation this coming June. I’m definitely looking forward to the next time the OHS community will be able to come together in celebration. In the meantime though, be sure to celebrate yourself and how far you’ve come this school year!

In this issue of the Pixel Journal, we’ve had a lot to celebrate. In the Culture column, enjoy reading about OHSers’ New Year resolutions, our recap of all the excitement at Pixel Festival, and learn more about the history of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In the Stories column, we interviewed Aston Davies (’24) on his work for his online magazine, the Humanitarian Weekly, and his aims to raise awareness of the issues minorities, immigrants, and refugees face. Finally, in the Clubs column, see how the Asian Pacific American Student Union (APASU) marked the Lunar New Year and our spotlights on the OHS Bible Study Circle and the Science Fair Club.

I hope you enjoy our January issue and have a happy February ahead,

Eryn
