Letter From the Editor

Dear Reader,

February comes from the Latin word februa, which means “to cleanse.” As we are well into our second semester of this school year, I hope everyone is finding peace and cleansing during a month as busy and lively as February. With significant events such as Black History Month, Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day, and much more taking place during this time, I hope that everyone has been able to spend time with their loved ones and prioritize the things that make us the happiest and most fulfilled. For me personally, this school year has been a difficult one. Despite the overall stress of college interviews, recovering from fall applications, and still finding time for my hobbies and talking to friends and family, I hope that this month of February allows me to cleanse as well.

In this issue, we are spotlighting the history and significance of Black History Month and Lunar New Year and delving into our favorite Romance Book Recommendations for Valentine’s Day. Furthermore, we are continuing our monthly series dedicated to student mental health for the Mental Health Support Column as well as highlighting two wonderful OHS clubs, the Connections Club and Equestrian Club. Send an eRose to your BFF, share a conversation heart with a loved one, and enjoy our issue while listening to the February playlist!

Yours,

Rachel
