Introduction to the 2023-2024 Editorial Board

Meet our new editorial board for the 2023-2024 school year!

Sterling Davies ’24, Assistant Editor

Dear Reader,

I’m Sterling, and I’m looking forward to being the Assistant Editor-in-Chief of the Pixel Journal for this school year! This is my senior year at OHS, and I started four years ago during my freshman year. During my time here, I have been a peer tutor, a volunteer for the Board of SASS, and a contributor to the Pixel Journal and Yearbook. Academically, I enjoy thinking about philosophy, English, and writing, as I think it can give readers a different way of perceiving the world around us. I live in El Dorado Hills (just outside of Sacramento) with my twin brother, and outside of school, I compete in tennis and swimming and also enjoy creative writing. I recently wrote and published a novel and am currently in the process of creating another one!

Throughout this year, I will work with our fantastic Editor-in-Chief, April, to manage and oversee the Pixel Journal. I will work on pitching ideas for the monthly issues, helping lead monthly meetings and workshops, sending announcements to contributors and editors, and also introducing Pixel Journal’s new video section!

I can’t wait to be a part of Pixel Journal and read all of your articles that come through. Have a great school year, and don’t hesitate to reach out to me or April if you have any questions about the PIxel Journal!

Best,

Sterling

Jacob Bryant ‘24, Stories Editor

Dear Reader,

I am JB or Jacob, the Stories Editor for the Pixel Journal. I am currently a senior and this is my 4th year here at OHS. I live in Austin, Texas and I enjoy sports like basketball and football.

Last year, I was a part of the Pixel Journal as a contributor, and now as the stories editor I am excited to read all of the submissions sent my way. You all have amazing experiences so thank you for sharing some of them with me and our readers. I can't wait to oversee the stories column and learn more about our OHS community this year! If you have any questions for me, feel free to reach out! I hope everyone has a great school year and a lot of fun reading the Pixel Journal!

Rachael Lin ‘26, Culture Editor

Dear Reader,

My name is Rachael, and I’ll be the Culture Editor for the Pixel Journal this year! I’m a sophomore from NorCal, and this will be my fourth year at OHS. At OHS, I’m a peer tutor for TAA and C++. In addition, I’m the vice captain for OHS’s FTC Robotics Club, where I organize meetings, help prepare for competitions, and more. Other than academics, I enjoy reading, creative writing, and swimming. I also like making origami and baking—especially cookies!

As the Culture Editor, I’ll collaborate with OHS students to capture diverse perspectives. The scope of this column also extends beyond our community; it’ll expand on topics that can resonate with people globally. My role is to amplify our unique voices, and I’ll work diligently to make everyone feel represented. Hopefully, I’ll be able to highlight our valuable shared student experiences, and help everyone learn more about one another. Whether it be brainstorming topics or interviewing students on local meetups, I’m excited to work with some of you!

Feel free to reach out if you have ideas that you’d like to see featured! I’m looking forward to a great year, and I hope everyone will have a great time writing/reading articles!

Anjana Goli ’25, Effective Altruism Editor

Hi! My name is Anjana Goli, and I’m a junior here at OHS in my fourth year here! I’m really interested in exploring the intersection between STEM and media, especially with journals and magazines! Outside of the Pixel Journal, I run the OHS Effective Altruism Club, the OHS STEM Magazine, and the OHS Startup Incubator and do independent research, develop policy proposals, and run a non-profit on effective altruism, biosecurity, and bioeconomy. Outside of academics, I am a huge foodie, music nerd, and bookworm! Excited for this new year of PJ!

Arielle Clyne ‘25, Community Engagement Editor

Arielle is a junior and in her fifth year at Stanford OHS and is based in San Diego, California. She enjoys connecting with her peers through her role as community engagement lead in the Pixel Journal. When she isn’t working on schoolwork or the Journal she is either playing tennis, lacrosse, volunteering with her local chapter of National Charity League, tutoring elementary and middle-school students or going out with friends! In her free-time she enjoys creating films and digital art.
